Nexus Prime

I have seen the birth of Coruscant, and it was a city called Nexus Prime.

I can't get over how varied the landscapes are in SL. One moment I'm in Sanrio Land, the next, in an underground sewer exploring the warren-like tunnels that trail beneath a steel giant.

Nexus Prime made my heart pound in a violent melody. Raw, unfinished construction. Shadows that dance in dark corners. The oily metal stink of silent buildings lying in wait. Here, we are standing within the exoskeleton of a structure on the verge of creation, or at the brink of death - I cannot tell.

Throughout the journey, Chris Cunningham's Bjork video All is Full of Love plays over and over in my head like a siren song.

Sunset

Sunset by Rainer Maria Rilke
Slowly the west reaches for clothes of new colors
which it passes to a row of ancient trees.
You look, and soon these two worlds both leave you
one part climbs toward heaven, one sinks to earth.

leaving you, not really belonging to either,
not so hopelessly dark as that house that is silent,
not so unswervingly given to the eternal as that thing
that turns to a star each night and climbs--

leaving you (it is impossible to untangle the threads)
your own life, timid and standing high and growing,
so that, sometimes blocked in, sometimes reaching out,
one moment your life is a stone in you, and the next, a star.

Es Ach Oh Pee Pee Ai En Gee

What a fabulous day! I finally got to meet Scene and we went SHOPPING!!!!!!! Totally wicked chick, and soooooo much fun...even if it was a little disarming because I had to refrain from gossipping about boys we both know.

Because I like lists, here's the Top Three of the day:

#3: Rugged Leather boots from Shiny Things (Hotei)
THANK YOU Anya, whom I boot-stalked at Naughty, for the heads up on where she got hers. They make the best clomping sound and have a great weight to them. I feel 'ard as nails.

#2: Electric blue stiletto boots - Prim Seductions(Octopia)
I've got real thing for electric blue and stripes at the moment. Here I have indulged in both.

But caveat emptor if I may - at Prim Seductions, one is never enough.

#1 : Everything in Laundry (Nakama)
Beautifully style, hand-drawn pieces with a Japanese monchromatic aesthetic. Simple, chic, uncomplicated, necessary. Scene and I bought everything, and then Fade came to polish off the rest.

Oh, and I love the visual merchadising display!

And then finally, a tram ride to nowhere...and everywhere.

Luxe is wearing a Laundry Mini Cheongsam in white, with dark wash Iki skinny jeans.
Fade is in Laundry Long Shirt/Pants 005.

Anorexia in SL

Luxe is in Solange's Shimmer in red and pumps from Minx.

I have definitely dropped a couple of pounds since I've been here - where does everyone go for a meal? I've never seen anyone eat! In fact, I often forget to eat myself and please note: I haven't missed a meal since that 12-hour interval when I was being born. Don't worry, as soon as I remember I sit down and have about a dozen plates of food to make up for lost time.

In my pre-SL days, if I had been on Miss Universe and asked what was my greatest hope for mankind, the answer would not have been World Peace but a world where gluttony is of no consequence.

Now that I have found it, there's nothing to bloody glut on!

However, I hear The Rose is pretty good so I'm going to check it out tomorrow.....now who can I ask to come with me? I know! Where are you little Shermie....

More tomorrow xLx

UPDATE*** Shermie and I went to The Rose last night at about 8pm? There was no-one there. But it was great to reacquaint myself with the tunes of Miami Sound Machine....how I've missed you, Gloria. Not. What about the food, you ask? Put it this way - I'm still hungry.

Falling in SLove

Ahhh that wonderful thing called Love. When I first got here, a friend took me exploring and later on revealed that he was heartbroken at a marriage that had ended. He'd caught "that bitch fucking a bunch of goths in their bedroom".

I was horrified. And when I found out that all of this had happened in SL, I was amazed. How could anyone form such an emotional attachment to an avatar? I was sceptical, and admittedly, judgmental.

Sure, I was there when chatrooms exploded, hurried home from dinner to make dates on ICQ....and yes, the friends on the other side were more that marching ASCII characters across a screen....but love? REAL love? Physical pain?

But now, after talking to so many people, watching the genuine warmth between two AVs in love, observing souls communicate... I get it.

My friend Fade clarified it for me - he said that when you have to emote your actions, describe what you're doing and what you're feeling, it becomes hyper-real.
It's the security that comes with knowing exactly how the other person feels and what their intentions are....then layering your own desires and fantasies over that. It's intoxicating. How often does that kind of connection happen in RL?

I'm not talking about cyber....that is, for me anyway, just creative copywriting. How many people in this world really have the ability to accurately type one-handed?

No, I'm talking about a genuine emotional bond. People who make you smile in the darkness. Curling up in sadness when they don't show up. Missing them and looking forward to the future.

I can't say that I've encountered full-blown OMG it's Love....I haven't felt the desire to say I love you. I haven't even really made love*.

But I have yearned. I've glimpsed that slash of technicolour when someone arrives next to me. I am aware of the torrent of emotions that threaten beneath the surface.
Do I understand now? Yes.

And when it comes to love, what's better? 2-dimensional passion in a 3d world.....or the other way around?

So here's to you, magnificent SLovers - may your unions virtually last a lifetime.

xLx

*Cyber doesn't count. OKAY???

Homebody.

I know I should be out exploring but all I want to do is stay at home. Is that so bad?

You're always welcome to visit.......

Random thought # 486

I use too many exclamation marks. I must stop!!! I must stop.

'Avin a a dance

Dancing in SL is bizarre. You're at a club playing some dope beats.....but you're doing the salsa.

I dont know about you, but I don't even do the salsa in my bedroom when no-one is watching. Apart from being a dance that requires sequins and a rigid smile, it is also EXTREMELY GAY!

Leave it to the Latinos (Spanish? Mexican?), they're the only ones who can pull it off.

But today I discovered Space: SL. Wicked tunes AND a great dance anim. Loved it! I was rocking the backspins, poppin away.....Now if only they'd play some breaks or hip hop to go with it......

It's just one big blank

The involuntary retching has stopped long enough for me to walk you through my morning.

I wake my computer up to find a new blog on the screen. Lovely - boring my mates in RL isn't enough, I need another medium. Read my posting. Cringe. Backpedal with a new post but I dont think I'm fooling anyone (least of all myself).

Arrive at Topaz and wander upstairs to get dressed for the day and find a big black behemoth perched on my wall. Did I bloody go out and buy a plasma TV last night????? WTF? Click it a couple of times nothing happens, look through my inventory for a remote control (or Binkler as my mate Marius would say).....nope. It's a big freakin mystery.

Much later in the day. And I mean muuuuuuuucccchhhhh later in the day it occurs to me that there might ..... get ready for this.....there might actually be something ON THE OTHER SIDE????? Er, like, duh.

Zip back home, flip it over...Wait. Allow me to elaborate on 'flip it over'. What I mean is that I had to try about 6 times before I got it right. First I turned it upside down, blank side out. Then perpendicular to the wall. Then right side up but upside down. Then it was perpendicular the other way. Hello, Mistress Retardo!!!!!!!

But the wait was worth it. Gorgeous. Big shout out to Fade at Cult Modern! xLx

PS: I also have 3 pairs of new shoes, a set of completely slutty lingerie that I would NEVAH normally buy and yet another pair of aviators. Someone lock that credit card up!

Misty Drunken Memories

My God what a load of bollocks one writes whilst under the influence of several beautifully rounded, vintage glasses of wine. Did I say glasses?

I meant bottles.

Now why can't a glass of wine in SL cyber you whilst drinking?
"Ummm my melon-sweet fruitiness envelopes your tastebuds."
"My spicy undertones prickle the roof of your mouth as you swallow."
"Ahhhhh the hints of warm oak as you inhale my sensuous aroma."

I could go on and on and on.....
But I'll stop now because my head is hurting from last night.

xLx

PS: Do you ever get brain stutters when you're hungover?

PPS: Yes I love a drink. And a nice fresh fag straight from a new pack while I'm at it. Don't judge me just because you're American. At least I don't eat the whole goddamned bucket.

Jaded UnJaded

So. A newbie and cynical about the promises that SL has to offer.

The thrill of meeting someone that carries over into RL.
Conversations that linger when your head is on the pillow.

Been there, done that, produced it. I would never have believed the pixel dreams.
